How to Mute and Unmute Yourself in Zoom

Overview

Description: This guide explains how to mute and unmute your microphone during a Zoom meeting. 

Estimated time of completion: 1 minute 

Instructions

  1. Join your Zoom meeting. 
  2. Click on the “Mute” button in the bottom-left corner of the screen to mute your microphone. 
  3. Click “Unmute” to turn your microphone back on when you want to speak. 
  4. Use the “Spacebar” as a shortcut to temporarily unmute yourself while speaking. 

Troubleshooting

  • If your microphone isn’t working, check your device’s audio settings.
  • Reconnect your audio by clicking “Join Audio” if you’re experiencing issues.
