How to Use the Chat in a Zoom Meeting

Overview

Description: This guide covers how to use the chat feature in Zoom to communicate with participants during a meeting. 

Estimated time of completion: 2 minutes 

Instructions

  1. Join your Zoom meeting. 
  2. Click on the “Chat” button in the meeting toolbar to open the chat panel.

  3. Type your message in the text box at the bottom of the panel.

  4. Choose whether to send your message to everyone or privately to a specific person using the “To:” drop down.

  5. Press Enter to send your message.

Troubleshooting

  • If chat isn’t working, ensure its enabled by the host.
  • Rejoining the meeting can resolve delays in chat delivery.
