How to Join a Breakout Room in Zoom

Overview

Description: This guide covers how to join a breakout room during a Zoom meeting for smaller group discussions. 

Estimated time of completion: 2 minutes 

Instructions

  1. When the host starts the breakout rooms, you’ll see a prompt to join a room.
  2. Click “Join” to enter the assigned breakout room. 
  3. You’ll be moved to a smaller virtual room with a few other participants.
  4. Use the “Ask for Help” button if you need the host to join your breakout room.
  5. When the session ends, you’ll be automatically returned to the main meeting room. 

Troubleshooting

  • If you don’t see the prompt to join, ensure your Zoom client is up to date.
  • Check with the host to confirm your room assignment.
