How to Permanently Change Your Display Name in Zoom

Overview

Description: This article covers how to permanently change your display name in Zoom so that it appears correctly in all future meetings, webinars, and on your profile.

Instructions

Step 1: Sign in to Zoom

  • Open a web browser and go to https://www.zoom.us/ 
  • Click Sign In in the top-right corner. 
  • Log in using your Zoom credentials. 

Step 2: Access Your Profile Settings 

  • Once signed in, click My Account in the top-right corner. 
  • This will take you to your Profile page.

Step 3: Edit Your Display Name 

  • On the Profile page, locate your current Display Name. 
  • Click the Edit button (usually to the right of your name). 
  • In the Display Name field, enter your preferred name. 
  • Click Save Changes.

Once saved, this new name will appear as your default in all meetings and webinars you join using this Zoom account. 

Troubleshooting

  • Ensure you are logged in to the correct Zoom account before trying to update your name. 
  • If your name reverts during meetings, it may be due to host restrictions or a Zoom Room setting—you can only change your name if the host allows it during that meeting. 
  • Clear your browser cache and try again if changes are not saving. 
  • Use the recommended browsers: Chrome or Firefox (latest versions).
