Accessing & Scheduling Meetings via Zoom

Overview

Description: This guide covers the process of accessing your Zoom account and scheduling a meeting through the Capitol Technology University Zoom portal (https://captechu.zoom.us/). 

Estimated Time of Completion (ETOC): 15 minutes 

Instructions

1. Access the Capitol Technology University Zoom Portal 

  • Open your web browser and navigate to https://captechu.zoom.us/. 
  • Click the “Sign In” button.

  • Enter your Capitol Technology credentials (e.g., email and password) if prompted. 

2. Navigate to the Meeting Dashboard 

  • After logging in, you’ll be taken to the Zoom dashboard. 
  • Click on the “Meetings” tab located on the left-hand menu.

3. Schedule a New Meeting 

  • Select the “Schedule a Meeting” button.

  • Fill out the meeting details: 
  • Topic: Enter the meeting title (e.g., “Project Update”). 
  • Description (optional): Add details about the meeting. 
  • When: Set the date and time for the meeting. 
  • Duration: Specify how long the meeting will last. 
  • Time Zone: Ensure the time zone is correct. 
  • Recurring Meeting: Check this box if you want to set up a recurring meeting. 
  • Meeting ID: Use the default “Generate Automatically” option. 
  • Passcode: Ensure a secure passcode is set. 
  • Waiting Room: Enable the waiting room for added security. 

4. Save and Share the Meeting 

  • Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
  • After saving, you’ll see a summary of the meeting details. 
  • Copy the Meeting Invitation link and share it with participants. 

 5. Start the Meeting (Optional) 

  • To begin the meeting immediately, click the “Start” button on the meeting summary page. 

Troubleshooting

  • Ensure you are logged into https://captechu.zoom.us/ using your university credentials. 
  • Verify your internet connection. 
  • Clear your browser’s cache and cookies. 
  • Use a recommended browser (e.g., Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox). 
  • Check that you have entered the correct time zone and meeting settings.
