How to Clear the Cache in Chrome?

Overview

Description: This guide will help you clear the cache in Google Chrome to improve browser performance and resolve potential issues with websites.

Estimated Time of Completion (ETOC): 3 minutes

Instructions

  1. In the top-right corner of the Chrome window, click the three vertical dots (menu button).
  2. From the drop-down menu, choose “Settings.”
  3. Scroll down to the “Privacy and Security” section and click on “Clear browsing data.”
  4. In the “Time range” drop-down, select how much data you want to delete. To clear everything, select “All time.”
  5. Make sure the box next to “Cached images and files” is checked. You can also uncheck other options like browsing history or cookies if you don’t want to clear those.
  6. Click the “Clear data” button to delete the cache.

Troubleshooting

  • The cache isn’t clearing: Try restarting Chrome after following these steps to ensure the changes take effect.
  • Some websites aren’t loading properly: Clearing the cache can remove some temporary data, so it may take a moment for websites to load as the cache rebuilds.
