Accessing Outlook Email via Web and Mobile App

Overview

Description: This guide walks you through accessing your Outlook email using both the web app and the mobile app, enabling you to stay connected to your emails anytime and anywhere. 

Estimated Time of Completion (ETOC): 10 minutes. 

Instructions

  1. Accessing Outlook via the Web App 
    1. Open your preferred web browser (e.g., Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge). 
    2. Go to the Outlook web app by navigating to: https://outlook.office.com. 
    3. Log in using your Microsoft 365 credentials: 
      • Enter your university email address (e.g., yourname@captechu.edu). 
      • Enter your password and click Sign In. 
    4. Once logged in, your email inbox will appear. 
      • Use the left navigation pane to access your inbox, sent items, drafts, and folders. 
      • Click on an email to read, reply, or forward it.
  2. Accessing Outlook via the Mobile App 
    1. Download the Microsoft Outlook app from the app store on your device: 
      • iOS: App Store. 
      • Android: Google Play Store. 
    2. Open the app and tap Add Account. 
    3. Enter your Microsoft 365 email address (e.g., yourname@captechu.edu) and tap Continue. 
    4. Input your password and complete any multi-factor authentication (MFA) if prompted. 
    5. Once logged in: 
      • Swipe down to refresh your inbox. 
      • Use the navigation bar at the bottom for quick access to your inbox, calendar, and search. 

Troubleshooting

  • Web App Not Loading: 
    • Ensure you are connected to the internet. 
    • Clear your browser cache and try again. 
    • Use a recommended browser like Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. 
  • Cannot Log In: 
    • Double-check your email address and password. 
    • Ensure your account isn’t locked due to multiple failed attempts. 
    • Reset your password if necessary (see the related guide on resetting Microsoft 365 passwords). 
  • Mobile App Issues: 
    • Ensure the app is updated to the latest version. 
    • Check your device’s storage and clear the app cache if it’s not working properly. 
    • Reinstall the app and try logging in again.
