How do I register for classes?

Overview

Description: In this article, you’ll find a step-by-step guide on how to register for classes using the MyCapitol portal. It walks you through the process of selecting your courses, adding them to your calendar, and completing the registration to secure your seat. 

Estimated Time of Completion (ETOC): Depending on the number of classes you are registering for it could take 10 – 15 minutes to complete. 

Instructions

  1. All students can register for their courses by logging into their MyCapitol portal 
  2. At the top of the screen select Student from the top navigation bar. 

  1. Look for the left side navigational menu and select Online Registration

 

  1. When registering online using academic planning, select the academic term you intend to register for.

  1. Once you select the academic term, click Register

  1. Review the course options and add the courses in your plan to your calendar.

  1. Click on the course you want to add

 

  1. Selecting the blue plus sign will add the course to your calendar

Where you will see a blue thumbs up once the course has been added to your calendar. 

  1. Repeat Steps 7 & 8 until you have added all the courses you need for that academic term.
  2.  Once you have selected all your courses, click the green Registration Checkout button in the top right corner of the registration 

  3. Then when prompted with a new window, check all the boxes next to each course 

  1. Once all courses have been selected, click the green register button at the bottom right of the window. 

  1. Once you click the green Register button, you will see a new window that shows all your courses in green a message at the top of the window that says “Successfully Registered”


  1. You can close the window, and you should see a calendar view with your course names inside a green box with the phrase “Registered” and a checkmark. 

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, try these steps to assist in troubleshooting:

  • Ensure you are logged into MyCapitol Portal.  
  • Ensure you have selected the correct Academic Term.
