Bridge the gap between Capitols physical and digital campuses, while fostering an Online Learning Experience centered around student success and industry technologies. Position thoughtful learning experiences designed to empower the Capitol Community in learning, technology, productivity, and academic quality. Promote advanced online learning experiences through industry-recognized accreditations and affiliations in the Online Learning community.
Hours
Monday – Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. ET
Friday: 8:30a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET
Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. ET
Mission & Goals
The mission of Capitol Technology University’s Online Learning division is to advance STEM education through technology driven collaborative digital learning experiences.
- Establish Course Lifecyle which includes sequential quantitative and qualitative evaluation points to align with Program Level assessment plans and learning continuity and effectiveness of Course Designs.
- Develop capabilities for automated information transfers, single sign-on, and multifactor authentication.
- Relaunch the AskCapTech Knowledgebase to provide accurate answers to frequent questions on their time in their location, while offering pathways to additional support.
- Establish processes, policy, and systems to display and continuously improve Instructional Quality Management and accountability across academic departments.
- Establish Capitol Technology University’s affiliation with reputable distance learning organizations who specialize in improving online teaching and learning.

Capitol Virtual Library
The Virtual Library provides free access to research databases, journals, and publications, available 24/7 to support academic success. Explore a wealth of information to enhance your research and critical thinking skills.
Access the Virtual Library via MyCapitol Portal or directly:

Email and Microsoft 365
Capitol Technology University provides an Exchange-based email system via Microsoft Office 365 for all students. Use your university email for all communication, including contacting professors and support services.
Capitol Live (Zoom)
Capitol Live, powered by Zoom, is the platform for attending live online classes, hosting meetings, or pre-recording sessions for students. Ideal for synchronous, asynchronous, and on-ground courses.

Subject Matter Expert (SME) Training

This course introduces Capitol Technology University’s course development process and key deliverables. By the end of the training, you will be prepared for your kickoff meeting and equipped to contribute effectively as a subject matter expert.

Spring 2014 to Fall 2024 term courses is in capitol.instructure.com

If you wish to copy a course for the upcoming term, please check the CapTechU Canvas course before filling out the Course Content Transfer Request Form.
It is advisable not to wait until the last minute, as depending on the workload, it can take up to 48 hours to import your course.
If you receive this error, please submit a request to ask@captechu.edu.
Canvas
If your course is not appearing in Canvas, first check your "Courses" list and make sure it’s not hidden under "All Courses." If it’s still missing, verify your enrollment status with the registrar or contact your instructor.

Yes, Canvas has mobile apps available for both iOS and Android devices. You can download the "Canvas Student" app from the App Store or Google Play Store to access your courses on the go.

To view feedback on your assignments, go to the "Grades" section in your course. Click on the specific assignment, and you’ll see your instructor’s comments and any attached files with feedback.

Canvas supports a wide range of file types, including .doc, .pdf, .ppt, .jpg, .png, and many others. However, it’s best to check with your instructor for any specific file type requirements.
Zoom
Yes, Zoom has mobile apps available for both iOS and Android devices. You can download them from the App Store or Google Play Store and join meetings on the go.
- Log into Canvas and navigate to your course.
- On the Course Navigation Menu (left-hand side), click on Zoom (if your instructor has enabled it).
- In the Zoom interface, select the Cloud Recordings tab.
- Look for the recording you want to watch and click on the Recording Title.
- You'll see options to either play the recording or download it.
To change your virtual background, click the "Arrow" next to the "Start Video" button and select "Choose Virtual Background." From there, you can select one of Zoom’s default backgrounds or upload your own image.
To update your Zoom software, open the Zoom desktop client, click on your profile picture in the top-right corner, and select "Check for Updates." Follow the prompts to download and install the latest version.
If you can't hear others in a Zoom meeting, ensure your device's volume is turned up and that you have selected the correct audio output. You can test your audio settings within the Zoom meeting by clicking the "Audio" button in the toolbar.
If your video is not showing in Zoom, first check that your camera is connected and turned on. Then, click the "Start Video" button in the Zoom toolbar. If the issue persists, check your video settings or try restarting your device.
